Turkey`s First Space Technology Export
Under the auspices of the Presidency of Defense Industries, the signing ceremony of the ARSAT-SG1 Satellite Project, Turkey's first satellite export, was held between TUSAŞ, GSATCOM and INVAP. President of Defense Industries Prof. İsmail DEMİR and officials from TUSAŞ, GSATCOM and INVAP attended the signing ceremony.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, President of Defense Industries Prof. İsmail DEMİR said, “With the contract we signed today, our defense industry continues to contribute to the objectives of the National Space Program and takes its capabilities in this field to foreign markets. The project, which will be conducted by Turkey's satellite manufacturer TUSAŞ together with its subsidiary GSATCOM Space Technologies Inc., will be the first export of the new generation communication satellite family technologies in the field of satellite technologies in our country.”
The satellite that will meet the communication needs of Argentina's National Telecommunication Company ARSAT in South America is planned to serve at least 15 years in Geosynchronous Orbit. The ARSAT-SG1 Satellite will be designed with high throughput capacity and an electric propulsion solution and is planned to be delivered in 2024.
