Turkish Armed Forces Receives HISAR O+ Air Defence System
The domestically produced HISAR O+ missile defence system was delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces on January 20. With the delivery of HISAR O+, Turkey has now become self-sufficient in very low, low, and medium-altitude missile defence.
The Presidency of Defence Industries announced that the Hisar O+ Air Defence System, developed by ASELSAN and ROKETSAN, was delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in a video posted on the official Twitter page.
Before entering service, the HİSAR O+ Medium Altitude Air Defence System underwent its final acceptance test on December 24, 2021, at the Aksaray Test Rang, and the system successfully destroyed a high-speed target at high altitude.
"Our national air defence missile system HİSAR O+ destroyed a high-speed target at high altitude in the last acceptance test before entering the inventory (of the TAF)," President of Defence Industries İsmail DEMİR said in a statement. "The HİSAR O+ is currently fully operational with all of its components. Best wishes to our army in advance."
Apart from the HİSAR-O+, the Turkish Armed Forces will be able to provide air defence in the low and medium altitude layers with the HİSAR A+ Air Defence Missile System. SİPER, a long-range air defence system that is currently being tested for high altitude air defence, is anticipated to be operational in 2023.
