A New era has started with a critical reassignment at STM, which is one of the most important subsidiaries of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and one of the Turkish defence industry’s locomotive companies. Murat İKİNCİ, who had been assuming important tasks at STM since 2000, has been assigned as the General Manager in substitution for Davut YILMAZ. STM was ranked 98th for the first time this year in the “Defence News Top 100” list that is published annually in August by Defence News.
Following the assignment of Murat İKİNCİ as the General Manager, who has served in senior management at STM since 2013, President of Defence Industries Prof. İsmail DEMİR visited STM and conveyed wishes of success to Murat İKİNCİ.
Within the scope of the requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces, STM undertakes significant responsibilities in the projects within the country and it is still carrying out two projects outside of the country, within the borders of Pakistan. One is the Fleet Tanker project, the cruise tests of which were recently concluded successfully after the construction and equipping activities. The other is the 2 Agosto-90B Submarine Modernization project within the scope of the requirements of the Pakistani Naval Forces Command. In addition to these projects, STM is expected to assume a major responsibility in the Ada-Class MILGEM (two of the vessels will be constructed in Turkey and the other two to be constructed in Pakistan), the export of which is to be made to Pakistan.
STM Assuming a Leading Role in the Development of Innovative Technologies
STM, which has made significant progress in its capabilities in military ship design & engineering, construction & modernization as well as design and development of Kamikaze and Surveillance Drones, is preparing to speed up its efforts in this field in the near future. With KARGU, which has been indigenously developed and produced by STM and classified as autonomous rotating-wing striker UAV or micro UAV, as well as with fixed-wing striker UAV ALPAGU system, the Turkish Armed Forces has gained a significant capability in this area. With LAGARI, which is a micro observation satellite in space technologies and with PIRISAT, which is a nano-satellite and provides monitoring of ships in the seas, STM aims to sign new projects also in space technologies.
Regarding integrated cyber security solutions and big data analytics, STM also conducts significant efforts for the protection of critical infrastructure and the domestic and national development of decision support systems within the framework of Turkey’s needs.
