ADEX Brings together the Regional Countries in Azerbaijan
The international defense industry ADEX 2016 event held this year for the second time and organized by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries as the sponsor, took place in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on 27-30 September. 216 companies from 34 countries and 25 official delegations of 21 countries visited the event and Turkey was the country with the greatest number of participants once again this year. Turkey was represented with a total of 42 defense and technology companies at the event and Israel and Russia attended the event with 14 companies. The event is expanding every year with the attendance of new countries; Lithuania, Croatia, Czech Republic and Estonia participated in the event for the first time this year. The exhibition hall of the event increased 10% since the event in 2014.
Turkey was represented by the National Defense Minister Fikri Işık and the accompanied delegation at the event and the Turkish technology and defense companies and related institutions and enterprises such as SSM, TDA, Aselsan, TAI, Roketsan, Havelsan, MKEK, STM Otokar, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, BMC, Vestel Defense- AYESAŞ, MilSOFT, Katmerciler, Dearsan, SDT, Onur Engineering, Hexagon, İşbir Electronic and Ctech took part at the fair.
Minister of Defense Fikri Işık attended the opening ceremony with Azerbaijan Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense Industry Yaver Jamalov, Pakistan Defense and Production Minister Tanvir Hüseyin and other officials and visited the stands of the Turkish companies TAI, Aselsan, Havelsan and Roketsan being in the first place and received information from the representatives of these companies.
Bilateral cooperation agreements between Turkish and Azerbaijan companies were signed during the event as well. A cooperation agreement on command control systems and simulation was signed between Havelsan and Azairtechservis company of Azerbaijan while AYESAŞ company announced at the event that they will be cooperating with Savunma Azerbaycan Milli Elmler Akademiyası (ANAS - Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences) for the evaluation of the local and regional opportunities.
Azerbaijan President Haydar Aliyev and the accompanied delegation visited the stands of Aselsan and Roketsan on the first day of the event and made a brief negotiation with the senior executives of the companies. The Undersecretariat for Defense Industries was selected as the best stand and awarded by the ADEX event organization.
The 3rd ADEX event is expected to take place again at the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku - in September 2018.
