All Eyes on “CİRİT”
ROKETSAN participated in the EUROSATORY Exhibition that took place in Parisbetween 11-15 June 2012,and exhibited the Long Range Anti-Tank Missile System "UMTAS" and Medium Range Anti-Tank Missile System "OMTAS" with the launchers related to these systems and DSH, 1-107 and T-300 Rockets. In addition to these, "CİRİT" system was presented in the fair as well. CİRİT was developed through mass production and very first party of the system was delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in last May.
ROKETSAN officials made talks with the representatives from Vietnam, Jordan, Qatar, UAE and Chile on the market development of mainly CİRİT systems and UMTAS, OMTAS and other weapon systems as well.
Next Goal Land Platforms in CİRİT
"CİRİT", the very first national missile to enter the Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory, went through a very hard testing and qualification process before the mass production was launched. During this process, more than 100 firing tests from various rangesagainst the mobile/immobile and armored/unarmored targets within the scope of different scenarios were realized by AH-1W Cobra helicopters and the firing tests were accomplished successfully.
First CİRİT missiles were integrated to the AH-1W Super Cobra Helicopters -that currently exist in the Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory- in line with MIL-STD-1763 standards and then used. In parallel with this development, an effort for the integration of "ATAK" T-129 BAttack Helicopter -which is expected to enter the Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory in 2013- is going on.
"CİRİT" missile systems will probably be used in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Land and Naval Platforms besides the helicopter platforms and ROKETSAN is still working on CİRİT’s integration to the armored land vehicles. ROKETSAN officials stated that a huge demand emerged in the export market when CİRİT entered in the Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory and they said that the negotiations for an international contract are continuing. "In light of these developments, we will soon see a "CİRİT" missile on an armored land vehicle" said ROKETSAN officials.
CİRİT will Fascinate the Crowd in Africa Aerospace and Defence Exhibition
Meanwhile in line with the MoU signed in IDEF 2011, ROKETSAN and EUROCOPTER great stepsare taken towards turning CİRİT into one of the standard ammunition of the EC 635 helicopter. While the efforts for CİRİT’s integration on the EC 635 helicopter platforms are continuing in fullpace, the firing tests are expected to take place soon.
Recent Achievements of "UMTAS"
Long Range Anti-Tank Missile System "UMTAS" developed by ROKETSAN is currently at the final stage of improvement and within this scope missile firings were accomplished in June 2012. The target within a 5 Km range was locked prior to the firing and it was shot straight in the first guided missile firing from the ground. The success achieved with Laser Detection Helmets has been repeated with Infrared Image Detection Helmet.
As a result, the goal to furnish UMTAS with two different detection helmets in respect with the customer’s needs and offering a systems solution with CİRİT as well has been accomplished. UMTAS will be finalized as a national system meeting the needs of Turkish Armed Forces as a new generation anti-tank missile at the following stage.
With CİRİT systems’ entry in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory and the successful exporting process would help the market development of UMTAS in which the product improvement is at the final stage. It is possible to launch CİRİT and UMTAS from a single launcher and these systems ensure an effective protection to the current attacks and attack back as well, thus offer a package solution deal as a system and ROKETSAN will develop a competitive advantage over industry rivals.
