ENGIN Maritime (Coastal) Surveillance Radar Supply Contract Signed
The Contract Signing Ceremony for the ENGİN Maritime (Coastal) Surveillance Radar Supply Project, initiated by the Defense Industry Agency (SSB) to meet the needs of the Naval Forces Command and contracted to ASELSAN A.Ş. as the prime contractor, was held in the presence of Prof. Haluk GÖRGÜN, President of SSB, and Ahmet AKYOL, CEO of ASELSAN.
The project's objectives include detecting and tracking surface targets, identifying friendly and hostile elements, determining the direction and location data of radar systems with potential threats, and effectively transmitting this critical information to command-and-control centers.
In the project's initial phase, one prototype system and one serial production system will be supplied. The project also involves the indigenous development of radar systems, previously sourced from abroad, by over 15 domestic subcontractors to leverage domestic capabilities.
The supplied radars aim to replace the outdated and increasingly challenging-to-maintain radar systems currently in use by Coastal Surveillance Patrol Commands in the Aegean, Black Sea, and Eastern Mediterranean. Additionally, the new radars will expand the coverage area as they are deployed to additional locations to be determined.
