IAIS will be a Success Story as a UAE Based Defence Industry Company
Defence Turkey: Mr. Gücün, first of all could you please inform us about structure, vision and history of IGG ASELSAN Integrated Systems?
IGG ASELSAN Integrated Systems LLC (IAIS) was established in Abu Dhabi in 2011 as a joint venture company, to manufacture Remote Controlled Weapon Systems (RCWS) for the local and regional market. International Golden Group, a leading supplier of High-end Security and Defence Solutions to the local market, holds 51% shares of the joint venture, while ASELSAN, the leading Turkish company specialized in development and manufacturing of Defence Products, has shares of 49%. The facility is located in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD1).
We desire to become one of the best defence companies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region by developing a successful reputation with customer satisfaction. We have capabilities to perform manufacturing and after sale services of any other defence project in the GCC Region as a supplier or a contractor.
Our ultimate goal is to conduct research and development activities with the local and international partners to achieve indigenous and cost effective solutions.
Defence Turkey: What are the capabilities and products of IAIS?
IAIS signed a Business Agreement and a Transfer of Technology (ToT) Agreement with ASELSAN to manufacture and to perform Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) of ASELSAN’s STAMP and STOP Systems that are the Remote Controlled Weapon Systems with 12.7mm and 25/30 mm guns respectively. With the ToT agreement, IAIS gained the capabilities of assembling and testing of Remote Controlled Weapon Systems; manufacturing and testing of cable harness; installing systems to vessels and performing the Setting-to-work activities. IAIS is also capable of supplying ILS services, including maintenance and repair of the systems as well as training of the end-user.
With the Business Agreement, IAIS has received the rights of marketing, manufacturing and providing logistic support for STAMP and STOP systems in the UAE as well as the other countries in the GCC region.
Defence Turkey: Project activities continue within the coverage of the contracts signed in 2009 to integrate STAMP and STOP systems with the boats and ships of the UAE Naval Forces and the Critical Infrastructure & Coastal Protection Authority (CICPA). Could you please enlighten us regarding the program?
Under the scope of the contract, which was signed between ASELSAN and IGG to supply 34 STAMP systems to CICPA, system deliveries are completed. 21 STAMP systems have been installed on the boats and they are currently in use. The integration of the remaining systems will be performed in accordance with the boat production schedule. Afterwards, IAIS will provide all ILS services for this contract.
Regarding the second contract, 100 STAMP and 50 STOP systems will be delivered to UAE Naval Forces. ASELSAN has manufactured and shipped 15 systems to UAE. IAIS will perform production and the Factory Acceptance Tests for the remaining systems. The installation to the boats, Setting to Work and Harbor/Sea Acceptance Test activities, as well as after sales support services of all systems within the coverage of the second contract will be conducted by IAIS.
Defence Turkey: What are the other projects and programmes that IAIS carries out in UAE?
According to our ToT agreement with ASELSAN, IAIS is the only supplier of STAMP and STOP systems for further contracts to be signed with any authority in GCC region. Besides these system projects, IAIS will participate in foreseen projects such as Air Defence and Surface to Surface Missile Launching Systems. IAIS will take the responsibility of system production, integration, tests and logistic support of these projects when they are signed. Also, we intend to carry on similar activities in Communication Systems projects.
Defence Turkey: What are the plans and strategies set to expand your services to the other Gulf nations and export to 3rd countries in the years ahead?
Geographical proximity of IAIS to Gulf countries allows us to provide instant access to the user in case of any service request. We can promptly and adequately get into action especially for maintenance and repair needs of the customer. ASELSAN and IGG has some on-going projects in GCC region, and we may also take responsibility to provide the after sale services for these projects.
As mentioned before, IAIS is the only authorized supplier of ASELSAN’s Remote Controlled Weapon Systems for GCC countries. We believe that there is considerable potential for the Remote Controlled Weapon Systems in the GCC countries and IAIS will be the leading RCWS supplier in the region.

UAE defence industry has been growing remarkably in recent years. Our aim is to be one of the leading defence electronic companies in UAE and expand our product range according to the customer’s requirements. We have firstly started with the military system production, installation and after sale services activities; but in the future we may also provide Research and Development projects to UAE Armed Forces, in collaboration with ASELSAN and IGG.
