Radio System Project for the Turkish National Police Signed Among the SSB and Aselsan
The Nationally Encrypted DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) System will be established for fulfilling the peer – to – peer secure communication requirement of the Turkish National Police’s provincial security directorates in Ankara and Istanbul, upon the signing of the contract between the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and Aselsan.
The DMR System developed by Aselsan through domestic and national facilities in an indigenous fashion was initially launched into service in 15 cities in the first phase. A contract for an additional seven cities was signed in the second phase. With the completion of the third phase consisting of the cities of Ankara and Istanbul, the Turkish National Police will have a digital communication infrastructure in approximately one – third of the country.
On account of the Aselsan DMR Wide Area System to be established, the provincial security directorates will acquire data processing capability via the radio. The following applications will be utilized by the Security units:
Vehicle and Personnel Tracking Application
Data Base Inquiry Application
Messaging Application
Radio – Phone Calls
Operator Console
The robust, reliable and user friendly 3700 Model Hand Held Radio with the “Turkey Best Design” award, meeting the mechanical and electronic standards in the smallest sizes will be utilized within the scope of the project. This radio was developed by Aselsan in cooperation with the Turkish National Police.
