SSB Signs New Deals on Augmented Reality with HAVELSAN and BİTES
The Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) signed contracts on augmented reality with HAVELSAN and BITES at IDEF ’21 Fair. The SSB President Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR, HAVELSAN and BITES officials attended the signing ceremony.
The signing ceremony of the protocol signed between the Presidency of Defense Industries and HAVELSAN was attended by the President of Defense Industries İsmail DEMİR, as well as HAVELSAN General Manager Mehmet Akif NACAR, HAVELSAN Chairman Celal Sami TÜFEKÇİ and the officials of relevant stakeholders. With the Augmented Reality (AG) Project signed between the SSB and HAVELSAN, the situational awareness and mission efficiency of the Mine and Improvised Explosive Detection team personnel within the Land Forces Command are aimed to be increased through Augmented Reality technology. Within the scope of the Maintenance-Repair AG System, which is another part of the project, the objective is to increase the skills of maintenance/repair (M/R) personnel by benefiting from Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. Visual support will be provided through on-site maintenance instructions, and the efficiency of M/R activities will be increased to higher levels by using interactive and wearable display systems.
With the Land Forces Augmented Reality Project signed between the SSB and BITES, two prototype AR systems are aimed to be developed: The Augmented Reality (AG) System for Armored Vehicle Commander and Personnel for the needs of the Land Forces Command, and the Augmented Reality System to be used for the Urban Warfare. The Armored Vehicle AG System will not only increase the situational awareness of personnel within and out of the vehicle and provide decision support for the effective use of resources but it will also facilitate communication between them and with friendly elements. The Urban Warfare AG System will provide decision support to the Commando Unit and increase situational awareness in Urban Warfare operations in terms of threat identification, friend/enemy distinction, and implementing certain procedures.
