The Contract Signed Between Ministry of Defence Production, Pakistan and STM for Construction of Fleet Tanker

With respect to the requirements of Pakistan Navy, in the scope of acquisition of 1 Fleet Tanker, the construction will be undertaken at Karachi Shipyard; the contract which contains design of the ship along with kit of Matrial (KoM), ILS, spares, tests and trails, shipyard and operators’ training as well as consultancy services was signed between Ministry of Defence Production, Pakistan and STM in Rawalpindi/Pakistan.
This project, a first in scope of  the military ship construction  between two friendly and brotherly countries, Pakistan and Turkey, is a very important, distinguished and unique co-operation project in the field of Defence and shipbuilding industry. For Turkey’s shipbuilding industry which has enhanced a major breakthrough in the field of military shipbuilding with Milgem Project, this project brings the possibilities to allow exports of shipbuilding industrial products as well as export of ship design and engineering services which are great importance for the shipbuilding industry. 
The contract, on behalf of STM, signed by Board of STM Chairperson and Electronics Warfare and Sensors programmes in SSM Department Head Dr. Elife Unal is to be regarded as the foremost export project of military ship design. The Fleet Tanker designed for Pakistan Navy displaces 15 600 tonnes, approximately 155 m. tall, speed of 20 knots and with a replenishment-at-sea system (RAS / FAS) and a helicopter landing / take-off capability. The project will be completed in four years.
