The First F-35 JSFs will be Delivered to Turkey in 2018
The Business Development and Strategic Integration Vice President Jack R. Crisler and expert test pilot Billie Flynn made the presentation of the F 35 Lightning II fighter jet at IDEF’15. The delivery of the ordered first F-35’sare planned for the dates 2018-2019.
The presentation of the F 35 Lightning II fighter jet was made at the 12. International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF’15). Lockheed Martin F-35 Business Development and Strategic Integration Vice President Jack R. Crisler and expert test pilot Billie Flynn pointed out that the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet is much faster and its invisibility capacity is stronger in comparison to the F-16’S.
Jack R. Crisler underlined that the most sensitive topics for F35, which can move as to heat and which cannot be detected by radars, having night vision capacity, is cyber security. The technical properties of the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet were informed as such;
The length of the F-35 A CTOL Lightning II fighter jet is 51,4 ft / 15,7 m. F-35 B STOVL : 51, 2 ft / 15,6 m. Where as the length of the F-35 C CVis 51,5 ft/ 15,7 m. The height of the F-35 A CTOLis 14,4 ft / 4,38 m. The height of the F-35 B STOVL is 14,3 ft / 4,36 m. The height of the F-35 C CV is 14,7 ft / 4,48 m.
It was specified that Turkey gave 6 F35A orders until now and that 94 more orders will be made. It was specified that Turkey has a total of 100 orders and that two of these orders will be delivered in the year 2018. It was specified that Turkey is expected to make an additional order of 14 more planes to these 100 planes in 2020.
The most important 6 parts of the F35’s are produced in Turkey
Crisler, explained the share Turkey has in production. It was specified that 6 important parts of F35 fighter jets were supplied from producers in Turkey and the importance of the support of Turkey in the development of operation capacity of the plane in the F35 project was emphasized. The production in the motor air receptors and center body parts are realized by TUSAŞ –TAI which is among the authorized firms. AYESAŞ is providing the flight missile control interface unit and the panoramic cockpit indicator components. It was informed that Alp Aviation is responsible of the production of some parts of the landing gear parts. Kale Aero is also among the developing firms of the plane with the production of some parts. A Holland firm FokkerElmo with its factory established in Izmir is continuing its activities as the firm responsible for the cable installation to be used in the plane. It was also informed that Turkey could mount its own jets as well.
Billie Flynn: ‘ F35 systems are as easy as iphones for pilots’
Expert test pilot Billie Flynn explained that he had served as the test pilot of F16, F18, Typhoon and F35 fighter jets up until now and explained the differences between F35 and other jets. Flynn said, ‘F-5 is beyond the dreams we have madefor fighter jets until today’. The expert pilot explained that the complex system is actually giving very simple information to the pilot using the Iphone telephoneanalogy. He explained that the system used by thepilots on the plane is simplified for themjust like the simplification of a complex phone like Iphoneto be used by everyone.He underlined that the F35 planes have sensors for all the threats that can come from all angles in 360 degrees but the fourth generation plane sensors are transferring information to pilots about the things happening in front of them.
