Turkey is a powerful country progressing in a rapid way with the investments in recent years. The defence sector is the most strategic sector advancing in a rapid way with the ability to produce products and projects having high competitiveness in international markets.
The companies that began to produce projects in the 2000s years under the approach of ‘’R&D investments and production at home’’ which was adopted as state policy, are in a position nowadays to produce in critical fields from designing to production, from modernization to modification works. Thanks to these projects Turkey has become a country which can design and produce its own training plane, unmanned aerial vehicles, tank, battleship, armoured land vehicles, helicopter, missile systems, infantry rifles, communication systems, simulations and satellites.
The most important factor in the exporting activities of the sector has been the foundation of SSI, i.e. Defence and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association. The Association which was founded in 2011 unites the exporter companies in defence and aerospace sector under one sole roof and contributes to the synergy in the sector. The Association was founded with 60 members, has 250 members currently and aims at reaching 400 members by the end of 2014.
The Defence and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association is in an effort to increase the exports of the sector and operates to meet the needs of the sector. The Association attaches priority to export oriented production, focused on high technology and know-how and increase in R&D investments. Mr. Latif Aral ALİŞ who has been elected once again as the Chairman of the Defence and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association in the General Assembly held on April 29th, 2014 feels confident about the future of the Association.
The Defence and Aerospace Industry Exporters’ Association takes into account the importance of promotion and marketing as well as sectoral structuring and exportation activities. The Turkish Defence Alliance (TDA) which was founded in 2013 as the Promotion Group of the Turkish Defence and Aerospace Industry will start considerable promotion activities in a short time. The exporting performance of the sector realised in recent years will move even further, with the contribution of a comprehensive web-portal, an effective advertisement, promotion and marketing campaign intended for target markets as well as fairs and bilateral delegations.
TDA will be participating in “Eurosatory 2014- The Land and Airland Defence and Security İnternational Exhibition” in Paris on 16th-20th June 2014, at Hall 5A Booth H567.
