Our activities are continuing with commitment in this regard. We envisage that our sales this year will increase 15 percent as in the previous 8 years. One of our most important projections in 2013 is the founding of our battery production facility for electric vehicles. With this facility, Yiğit Akü will be able to provide products that will create a difference in global competition in terms of technology as of the middle of this year and will take its place in global competition as the first lithium ion battery producer in Turkey. This investment is not only for electric vehicles but will also provide value added as an alternative domestic solution source for needs that are entirely based on imports. We would like to announce that we are ready to co-operate with the relevant public organisations and await their valued supply requests.”
R&D is important in the Turkish defence industry in arriving at a better point
Emphasising that R&D activity is very important for the Turkish defence industry in reaching a worldwide position, Yiğit Akü General Manager Hulki Büyükkalender stated that: “The private sector must specialise in the work its doing and by using the scientific infrastructure it possesses it must integrate and develop advanced technology to its production stages suitable to the use and needs of its products. The objective is not just Turkey but also benefiting from the opportunities in the global market. Only in this way will the results enable the Turkish defence industry to arrive at a good point.”
Our global vision and slogan: “Will take us forward”
Explaining his thoughts on the 2023 vision for the 100th anniversary of the Republic in which strengthening the domestic defence industry is the main target, Hulki Büyükkalender said that as Yiğit Akü our global vision and slogan is: “It will take us forward.” “With this saying, in the work that we do we have the infrastructure and targets to make a difference in technology worldwide. In fact, the 2023 vision is in the nature of a global reference. In order for Turkey to be a global power, its first priority must be that the Turkish private sector becomes a global power. Each sector must push global targets with R&D activities, know-how and experience in the work that it does and if it possesses the infrastructure it must combine this with its 2023 vision and turn this to an important value added not only for itself but for Turkey as well. This is very important not only for the welfare of Turkish citizens, the productive use of resources but also in terms of profitability.” Reminding us that there are numerous firms in each sector, Hulki Büyükkalender said: “Some live for the day and leave the future to the blowing winds, some try to follow and pursue a world that is developing and changing and some try to be leaders to changes and developments…There is no reason for Turkish firms and the Turkish people to be a leader in changes and developments. We must be rid of complexes such as “cannot do, you cannot do.” We must be aware that in the work that we do human resources are our biggest resource and that with scientific research, that is to say specialising with R&D, we must move forward with courage”.
