AKANA Engineering : A Solution Partner in Aerospace and Defence Industry
AKANA Engineering has been implementing engineering, design and production projects for the last 20 years. AKANA has been conducting its activities to Defence & Aerospace industries since 2009 in the scope of its sustainable development strategy and has been serving as a subcontractor for the main players of these industries.
AKANA Engineering sustains its activities in R&D, Design, Automation, Robotics and Production under the supervision of "Engineering Group" and "Production Group" at its new facilities, which were invested in Başkent Industrial Zone.
With a total area of 7200 sqm, the new facilities have an area of 4320 sqm production hall and engineering & design offices. Additionally, an area of 1500 sqm is reserved for prototype manufacturing within the scope of R&D projects. The company continues to develop and serve for the industry with its growing engineering staff and technological investments. AKANA Engineering’s main objective is to maintain Total Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction continuously; and to improve its Product and Process reliability under the supervision of customer expectations, which will lead to "A New Way of Thinking for Industrial Processes" based on Quality.
Its design and production activities are; Demilitarization facilities (equipment/process/commissioning), Ammunition production equipment, Ammunition Loading/Transfer Systems, Energetic Material Processing Equipment, Demilitarization Machines and Rotary wing aircraft platforms.
In addition to these activities, AKANA has been in contact with the companies having offset obligations like OTOMELARA.
AKANA has experience in the design and production of the followings;
Land Platforms; Ammunition Re- supply Vehicle Ammunition Automatic Loading & Unloading System to FIRTINA Howitzer, Loading& unloading systems for the platforms such as Mono & Dual Gun Barrel, Test Systems.
Ammunition; Demilitarization Facilities and Disassembly Equipment Design & Manufacturing, Energetic Material Production Equipment and Facilities, Criminal Test Equipment Design & Manufacturing.
Air Platforms; Helicopter Cyclic & Collective Grips (ATAK Tl 29), Helicopter Platform-UAV, Satellite Card Box.
Naval Platforms; 3-D Radar Drive Assembly System (Thales Offset), Twin Gun Hoisting and Drive Units R&D projects for Aerospace Industry.
AKANA has been working in T-129 ATAK Helicopter Project as a subcontractor of TAI (Turkish Aerospace Industries) and has two work packages, Cyclic and Collective Grips. The grips have been designed and produced by AKANA, according to the international standards, fulfilling technical requirements. Cyclic Grip has 12 different buttons accomplishing 21 different tasks and Collective Grip has 11 different buttons accomplishing 14 different tasks.
Another important Project for AKANA is the Ammunition Automatic Loading & Unloading System for the re-supply vehicle of FIRTINA Howitzer to ASELSAN. The ammunition transfer system has horizontal and vertical transfer mechanisms for transferring the ammunition to FIRTINA howitzer from the re-supply vehicle.
AKANA has experience in the design and manufacturing of energetic material production equipment like double planetary kneaders. The family of kneaders includes the capacities of 1 lt, 1 gallon, 30 gallon and 150 gallon mixers. The equipment is ex- proof and have temperature / pressure control.
The main contractor’s of AKANA are the defence and aerospace companies of Turkey, like ASELSAN. ROKETSAN, TAI, FNSS and TÜBİTAK SAGE (Defence Industries Research & Development Institude). All the companies are mainly owned by the government except FNSS.
AKANA has also an international demilitarization Project for NAMSA which is the supply agency of NATO. Depending on its experience in demilitarization facility design and installation, AKANA has been assigned by NATO to supply a turn-key facility for demilitarization.
